Push' N Snap Cabinet Lock Recall 03/22/2012
RECALL NOTICE! Safety 1st Cabinet 'Push N Snap' Locks Recalled Due to Lock Failure Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) Inc., has recalled approximately 900,000 units of this product. Young children can disengage the cabinet locks, therefore allowing access to cabinet posing the risk of injury and access to dangerous contents. Over 200 reports of locks that did not adequately secure the cabinet, as well as inadequate functioning of the locks. In three of the reported incidents, the children who gained access swallowed or handled dishwashing detergent, window cleaner or oven cleaner, and were treated, observed and released from emergency treatment centers. Recall involves Safety 1st Push ‘N Snap cabinet locks with model numbers 48391 and 48442. The model numbers are printed on the back of the product and on packaging. Locks manufactured between January 2004 and November 2010 are included in the recall. The date of manufacture is embossed on the back. The arrow on the wheel points to the month and the numbers of either side of arrow represent the year of manufacture. Now, this recall is expanding to cover a number of brands and counting! Although, most of the recalled meat is beef-burger related, some ground meat products have also been affected. You can identify the recalled batch by establishment number 761 and are said to be produced between July 1st 2011, and Feb 15th 2013. The products that may be contaminated were distributed nationally to retail stores, restaurants and institutions such as hospitals (globalmontreal.com)Loblaws stores are currently taking back the designated beef products with the proper receipt.A list of the recalled beef products can be found at the CFIA website. Today Saputo Inc.announced some 4-litre bags of Neilson Trutaste 2% Microfiltered Partly Skimmed Milk, might contain a cleaning solution. WHAT? The recalled product has a best before date of February 12, 2012. The Best Before code 1590 FE12 H7 appears on the bag closure tab. The product has been distributed in Ontario and in Aylmer, Quebec. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency there has been one reported reaction associated with using this product. Milk containing this cleaning solution may not look or smell spoiled but drinking the milk could cause symptoms such as nausea, upset stomach or vomiting. Saputo is voluntarily recalling the affected milk from the marketplace, while the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall. This recall involves a children's craft apron sold under the name "Time 4 Crafts Kid's Apron". The apron is yellow vinyl with blue trim, ties around the waist and neck and three pockets in the front. The product is identified by Item number 16625 and UPC 062823166257. Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the kid's apron contains a phthalate, specifically DEHP (Di-Ethylhexyl Phthalate), which exceeds the allowable limit. Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods. Approximately 22,440 of the recalled aprons were sold at various dollar and discount stores across Canada. Neither Health Canada nor CTG Brands Inc. has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product. The ANTILOP high chair by IKEA has been recalled! Over 133,000 have been sold in the United States (more in Canada also). It retailed for $19.99 and the high chair tray was sold separately for $5. It came in red, white, or blue with detachable silver-colored legs. The recall product numbers are as follows and are printed on the bottom of each seat: ANTILOP high chair in blue: #701.467.92 ANTILOP high chair in red: #501.467.93 ANTILOP high chair in white: #300.697.24 They were sold in IKEA stores between August 2006 and January 2010 with supplier number 17389. The Problem: The high chair's restraint buckle can open unexpectedly, which puts your child at risk of falling. The Injuries: So far, IKEA has heard eight reports worldwide of the buckle popping open, three of which resulted in minor injuries when the child fell out of the high chair. Several complaints about the smell of PC brand infant cereal have caused Loblaws to order a recall. Eight varieties of infant cereals under the President's Choice Brand are on the list because of an "unpleasant rancid odour." The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the cereals have been distributed nationally and there is one reported illness linked to eating them. ... All of the Mixed Grains, Oat Cereal and Wheat Cereal products are sold in 227 gram green and white packages. This recall involves all B.O.B. strollers manufactured between November 1998 and November 2010. B.O.B. Trailers Inc., of Boise, Idaho SOLD AT: REI, Babies R' Us and other children's product and sporting goods stores nationwide and Amazon.com between November 1998 and October 2011 for between $280 and $600. PROBLEM: The stroller canopy's embroidered logo's backing patch can detach, posing a choking hazard to babies and young children. PRODUCT NUMBERS RECALLED: About 411,700 in the United States and 27,000 in Canada (357,000 units recalled in February 2011 due to strangulation hazard posed by canopy drawstring) IF YOU OWN THIS PRODUCT: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers until they remove the embroidery backing patch from the interior of the canopy's logo. Gagging and choking were reported in two incidents. The backing was removed from the children's mouth without injury. MANUFACTURED IN: Taiwan and China Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC), and Fisher-Price have jointly recalled the Fisher-Price Little People® Builders' Load'n Go Wagon (model number P8977) due to risk of laceration from the underside of the truck's plastic yellow handle. NB: the model with a green handle is not affected by this recall. There have been seven reports of incidents, five of which involved children receiving stitches. Consumers should immediately take the recalled wagons away from children and contact Fisher-Price for instructions on how to obtain a free replacement handle. The explorer strollers were sold in a variety of colors specifically: red, black, apple/black, navy and all apple. The hammerhead strollers were only sold in black. The phil&teds logo is located on the crotch piece of the harness on both models. The strollers have the text "phil&teds model EX explorer" or "phil&teds model HH hammerhead", printed on a sticker on the rear axle bar. AFFECTED STROLLERS HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS: FROM 0610/0001 TO 0111/4788 (JUNE 2010, UNIT #1, TO JANUARY 2011, UNIT #4788) This information can be found on a sticker appended to the inside of the left hand hinge (when viewing the stroller from behind).
